... and on to 2012!
Less than two weeks until we make our first ever appearance in Merced by way of The Partisan on Saturday, January 21st! We're excited to be joined by our good friends For The Masses for our first show of 2012! It'll be a good long set of hits and deep cuts, so if you're in the Central Valley, you won't want to miss out. Not to mention we've got some great shows coming up in some of our usual Bay Area haunts. And as usual, the shows page has all the specifics. See you soon, friends!

Brixton Again (Again)
Last month's show at Cat Club was so much fun! Thanks everyone who came out to see it, especially all you new faces. We hope to see you again, and soon! In fact, how about next Saturday? We're coming up on the 25th anniversary of The Smiths' last concert, held at the Brixton Academy. And to celebrate, we're returning to the fabulous Queen Is Dead night at San Francisco's Milk Bar on Saturday, 12/17! We'll be performing that final set, song for song, exactly as it was heard at that fateful final show -- complete with all of its hits and unexpected gems! For you long-time TCB fans, you may remember we did something for the 20th anniversary way back in 2006. That was one of the most memorable nights in TCB history, and this time around we expect it'll be even better! Check out the shows page for all the details, as well as a sneak peak at a January date booked in the Central Valley...

The Latest "Gossip"
First off, thanks to all who joined us last weekend at Café Du Nord! The Jean Genies and Neil Martinson were both fantastic, and so was the lovely crowd! But if you missed it, it just so happens you're in luck! In a rare move, we're returning for another SF show the very next month! On Saturday, November 12th, we're excited to be joining forces with Club Gossip for the first time ever! It'll be a special Smiths tribute night with DJs Daniel Skellington and Sage, as well as VJs Shon, Low Life, and Damon! The night will be hosted by Randy Maupen and Dina Robinson, with visuals by Vis A Vis. We've been going to Gossip for years, so we're thrilled to finally share a night with them at The Cat Club next month! As usual, the shows page has the details... see you then!

More news for Café Du Nord!
Some late-breaking news about this Saturday's show, friends... First off, we're excited to announce that former SF Weely "DJ Of The Year" Neil Martinson (of SMiLE!) will be spinning his brand of Bowie-era Glam, Smiths-era New Wave, plus some Soul, Bubblegum, and Pop before and between sets! And in addition, one lucky guest will win the just-released "Smiths Complete" CD box set from Rhino! We're talking 106 tracks, all lovingly remastered by Johnny Marr himself! That's all eight Smiths albums, in mini vinyl replica packaging, and wrapped up in a brand-spanking-new box. Well we've got one, and somebody's going home with it this Saturday night! Will it be you?

We knew it was gonna happen someday!
We had such fun playing at U.C. Berkeley's Botanical Garden last month! Playing in a redwood grove in the great outdoors. Fresh air and a casual setting added to a truly one-of-a-kind show that we won't soon forget! Coming up this Saturday (10/22), we're back in San Francisco proper for a big show at Café Du Nord! We've got some new songs planned, and we're bringing back some sorely-missed older ones. And best of all, we're going to be joined by a new David Bowie tribute The Jean Genies! Join us for what is sure to be an exciting night of Smiths, Moz, and The Thin White Duke as we reunite these giants of popular song for the first time since their falling out in the early 90's. TCB shows often get a great turnout at Du Nord, so you are advised to get your tickets early here!

Summer rolls on!
We've had some great shows lately, including another spectacular night at Bimbo's, and we just got back from our most successful night yet at Bakersfield's Fishlips, followed by a return to SoCal with our first show at The Key Club! Such amazing shows, where we had the pleasure of being joined by truly amazing bands. Thanks again to all of you who joined us on stage or in front of it! In just a couple weeks, The Blank Club (8/12) with For The Masses and Blue Lamp (8/13) where we're playing stag. And one more local show to announce! We're thrilled to finally get to play out in Berkeley at a rare all ages show. And it's early in the day! On a Thursday (9/1)! This never happens, so if weekends and late nights don't typically work for you, here's an ultra-rare chance to catch us! It's all part of U.C. Berkeley's Redwood Grove Concert Series, where we'll get to play a small outdoor ampitheater surrounded by redwoods! How Zen! It should be memorable. Check the shows page for all the details!

Summer shows are on the horizon...
Thanks to everyone who joined us for another exciting and successful Moz birthday show at Slim's in May! Since then, we've been taking it easy and recovering, but that's all about to change as we gear for a handful of summer shows! First off, on Friday (7/22) we're opening up for Tainted Love at Bimbo's 365 Club right here in San Francisco! Then the very next weekend, we head south for a return to Bakersfield by way of Fishlips (7/29). The next night we head down to West Hollywood for a rare SoCal appearance at The Key Club (7/30), where we'll be opening up for the premier Oingo Boingo tribute Dead Man's Party! Not enough? Well in August, we defend our turf at The Blank Club in San Jose (8/12) and Blue Lamp in Sacramento (8/13). We're looking forward to seeing all of your faces and dancing our legs down to the knees as we make the rounds this summer. As always, check the shows page for details on upcoming dates!

April Showers Bring May Shows!
The weather in California has finally started to clear up, and not a moment too soon... because we've got three big shows planned for you! We're kicking off next weekend with our first venture into Modesto at Jax On H (5/13). Then the next night, we're celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of The Queen Is Dead by playing the entire album in Fresno at Club Fred (5/14). Finally, we're finishing out the month with our annual Moz Birthday Show at Slim's (5/20)! This huge all-ages night will also include For The Masses and Sing Blue Silver! Pick up your tickets early here, and check out this year's fancy flyer (courtesy of Casey Castille) on the shows page!

Torrential Rains; Morrissey's Birthday!
Big thanks to everyone who braved the storm last night to make Milk Bar one of the more exciting TCB shows in recent memory. It's always a privilege to play for rabid Smiths fans like us! We hope you all had as much fun as we did! If you missed us last night though, your next chance here in San Francisco is... our annual Morrissey Birthday Show at Slim's! This holiest of days falls on a Sunday this year, but that won't do. Instead, we're celebrating more conveniently on the nearest Friday (5/20). And this year, we're thrilled to be joined by our friends For The Masses (tribute to Depeche Mode) and Sing Blue Silver (tribute to Duran Duran)! Slim's is traditionally our biggest night of the year, and we pull out all the stops! On top of that, it's a rare all ages event! If you see any TCB show this year, this will be the one to see! As always, check out the shows page for all the details as they become available.

Spring is heating up...
After another sold out crowd with Tainted Love last weekend, we're setting our sights on next weekend's "The Queen Is Dead" event at Milk Bar. We're hoping to see lots of friendly faces at this new Smiths night! Beyond that, we have a few more shows to announce as we put together our vernal line up. April Fool's Day, we're returning to Sacramento's Blue Lamp (4/1), followed by a supporting slot for Super Diamond at Petaluma's Mystic Theatre (4/2)! It'll be our first time at that reputable venue, and we can't wait! Then in May, we're looking at our first trip to Modesto at Jax On H on Friday, 5/13, followed by a return to Fresno's Club Fred on Saturday, 5/14. Northern and central California: TCB is taking care of you this spring! Keep an eye on the shows page for all the details.

Surprise show! And welcome to a new Smiths night!
Thanks again to everyone who came to a sell out show at Bimbo's this month! We love that place! And special thanks to our friends Tainted Love for having us along! I guess they liked us, because they've asked us to join them again at Santa Rosa's Last Day Saloon on Friday, March 4th! As we can personally attest, these guys bring a huge crowd, so another sell out is a real possibility. You may want to consider purchasing your tickets in advance here. We're also thrilled to join up with San Francisco's fantastic new monthly Smiths club night "The Queen Is Dead" which is held at Milk Bar every third Saturday. We'll be playing a set with them there on March 19th... more details to come!

January 31st, 2011
Continued Bay Area Success!
We can't thank enough all of you who helped us sell out the Blank last weekend, as well as the 350+ who joined us last week at Popscene/Rickshaw! So many great friends, and this includes the talented Sing Blue Silver in San Jose and Dead Souls in San Francisco. Special thanks to Dead Souls for all the past shows. The Bay Area misses you already! As for TCB, our homestand continues at Bimbo's 365 Club (2/12), where we'll be opening for 80's cover band experts Tainted Love. We're really looking forward to playing this place again -- one of the best in S.F. -- so don't miss out!

January 17th, 2011
2011 kicks off with something different...
Happy belated New Year! We hope you enjoyed the holidays, but now it's time to dance off all those extra calories, because January has two Bay Area TCB shows in store for you! This Friday (1/21) we'll be at The Blank Club in San Jose with Sing Blue Silver (who helped us sell out last time they joined us there). Then the following Thursday (1/27) we'll be welcoming San Francisco's venerable Popscene to its new home at Rickshaw Stop! This is sure to be a huge night, not least because opening the bill will be our old friends Dead Souls, playing their last show ever! And on top of that, it's 18 and over, so you not-quite-21-year-olds won't even have to score a fake I.D. Come help us say a bittersweet "goodbye" to an amazing Bay Area tribute band and "hello" to a big new venue for Popscene. All happening this very month!

November 15th, 2010
Happy birthday to us!
Thank you to all of the amazing fans who came out Friday and helped us celebrate our fifth birthday with a massive sell out show at Café Du Nord! And apologies to anyone consequently turned away at the door; we wish there had been room for everyone, but please catch us next time! Thanks also to the amazing For The Masses for helping us out and being a part of that special night! We love all of you! For those of you who didn't get enough, or who maybe just saw us for the first time and want more, we're already working on shows for the new year. More to come, but confirmed so far is Friday (1/21) at San Jose's Blank Club! Keep checking our shows page for new updates to the calendar. Looking forward to seeing all of your beautiful faces again in 2011!

TCB Celebrates Its Five-Year Anniversary!
What can we say except that we're honored and humbled by your continued support for these last five years! From its living room beginnings in 2005, This Charming Band has grown into a nation-travelling, venue-packing, flower-throwing Smiths and Morrissey love fest, and we have all of you (and of course The Smiths) to thank! We've now been around as long as The Smiths themselves were, and if that doesn't frighten you, then join us next Friday (11/12) at San Francisco's Café Du Nord for an anniversary celebration! Not only will it be a night stuffed with all of your favorite Smiths tunes, but you'll also have the pleasure of seeing our friends For The Masses from way back in the early days! We hope to see some old faces and some new, so if you've been waiting for the right show to be your first, or if you haven't seen us since 2005, come out and join us! A sell out is likely, so you may want to invest in advanced tickets here. We can't wait to see you all!

Bako Bill Confirmed; Anniversary News
Just wanted to mention that rockabilly outlaws The 454's are now slated to join us next Friday (10/15) in Bakersfield, and of course the very next night we'll be joined by For The Masses in Fresno (10/16)! Are you as excited about next weekend as we are? Check out the shows page for all the specifics. Also, you'll notice we've got a new San Francisco show on the calendar too... TCB will be celebrating its five year anniversary with a massive show at Café Du Nord (11/12)! More on that as it gets closer, but suffice it to say that you won't want to miss the festivities as we look back on a half decade of great music and friends...

Heading For The Fall
We'd like to thank everyone who joined us this last weekend in San Jose and Sacramento! We debuted a few new songs and brought back the double bass for some rockabilly numbers. We were again aided by the incomparable Virgil Simpelo, as well as supported by Erasure-esque and The Snobs. Thank you guys for getting up there with us! Now it's time to look towards autumn, where we'll be coming back to Bakersfield (10/15 @ Fishlips) and Fresno (10/16 @ Audie's Olympic). Stay tuned for more details as they become clear.

Those Summer Nights
Well friends, we hope you'll help us celebrate summer with a weekend of Northern California shows coming up in August... We'll be starting off on Friday (8/13) in San Jose at The Blank Club, joined by fabulous tribute Erasure-esque! Then Saturday (8/14), we're headed up to Sacramento to perform at Blue Lamp with locals The Snobs! We expect to have some new songs and new faces as we wile away those last aestival hours. Why not come along?

Tossed Salads And Scambled Eggs
We wanted to thank everyone for an amazing Morrissey birthday show at Slim's last month. It was another huge success, and we're thrilled you were all a part of it! Thanks to Love Vigilantes, Fascination Street, and Jenny Wehrt for joining us. There's also the matter of last weekend in Seattle... we had loads of fun with Love Vigilantes at Tractor Tavern, and we hope you did too. Special thanks to Virgil Simpelo of San Diego's Still Ill for sitting in with us there! (There's a chance "Voz" will be doing more shows with us in the near term as TCB searches for our permanent replacment on lead vocals.) Looking forward to seeing you little charmers in August when we'll be returning to San Jose's Blank Club and Sacramento's Blue Lamp! More on that as the dates get closer.

Morrissey's Birthday In San Francisco!
Thanks to all the wonderful people who came out this weekend in Bako and Fresno to celebrate The Smiths with us! Bakersfield was great, and Fresno never disappoints. We hope to see you all again very soon! Special thanks to For The Masses for helping us out with their triumphant return! The big news is that we're finishing up our Spring "tour" this Saturday (5/22) with our biggest night of the year: our massive Morrissey birthday show at Slim's in San Francisco! But you don't have to be turning 51 to get in, because Slim's is an all ages venue! (OK, technically you have to be at least 6, but we expect most of you are.) We'll be joined by spot-on Seattle tributes Love Vigilantes and Fascination Street. These guys are amazing! And don't forget that Jenny Wehrt's "Saint Morrissey" painting from the flyer will be raffled off to one lucky fan during the show! If you only see us once this year, see us at Slim's! You can get your advanced tickets here. We can't wait!

How The Midwest Was Won
Our first trip out to the Midwest was loads of fun, and we hope those of you who made it out for the shows in Chicago and Milwaukee enjoyed them! And thanks again to Love Vigilantes for joining us! We hope to be out there again soon. This weekend, we're heading out again... this time for our Bakersfield debut at Fishlips (5/14) and then Fresno at the all ages Starline (5/15). And with us will be special guests: the just-reformed For The Masses, our old Depeche Mode tribute friends from the early days of TCB. We haven't played with them in ages... so don't miss out!

May 1st, 2010
Off To The Windy City!
First off, thanks to all the SoCal fans that made last weekend's shows so fun! We hope to be back soon! Now this upcoming weekend, we'll be travelling further than ever with shows in Chicago (Double Door, 5/6) and Milwaukee (Shank Hall, 5/7). We've never played out that way, and who knows how soon we'll make it out there again? So don't miss your chance to see TCB in the Midwest for the first time ever!

April 14th, 2010
Saint Morrissey
We're looking forward to seeing you all at the SoCal shows next week! We'll be bringing in some new songs and dusting off some old ones! And just announced, we'll be joined at The Juke Joint (4/24) by rockabilly outfit The 454's! In other news, with all these shows coming up, that also means a lot of flyers. Check out the shows page for all the new flyers, and pay special attention to the one for Slim's on Morrissey's birthday. This year, our flyer for this special occasion features the painting "Saint Morrissey" by local artist Jenny Wehrt. As an added bonus, this very painting will be raffled off to a lucky fan during the show! As if you needed yet another reason to come out!

March 24th, 2010
Yet Even More New Shows... TCB Heads (Mid)West!
They have finally been confirmed: two more shows, bringing our current total to a whopping eight shows over the next three months (seven of those in just the next two months)! This Charming Band will finally venture east to Chicago (Double Door, 5/6) and then Milwaukee (Shank Hall, 5/7)! So many new shows, our fingers are tired from typing them all. Check out the shows page for all the details regarding this very busy spring/summer for TCB!

March 22nd, 2010
Even More New Shows; TCB In The News!
Hello charmers! Just wanted to mention three more shows at three new venues, just added for the next few months! In May, we'll finally be making our Bakersfield debut at the venerable Fishlips (5/14). That's immediately followed by a return to Fresno at the all ages Starline (5/15). And if that wasn't enough, in June we'll be back up in Seattle at the stellar Tractor Tavern (6/19). Just one look at our shows page and you can see how busy these next few months are shaping up to be. And there are even a few more potential shows on the horizon! One last thing... check out the cover story at Covers online magazine, and you'll see some feedback from us and several other tributes!

March 14th, 2010
Springing Forward To New Shows!
Last night's Sacramento show was every bit the party we expected! Thanks to all of you who came out in force, and special thanks to The Snobs for opening up the night with a rockin' set. Our three-week streak may be over, but April will see the beginning of a whole slew of new spring and summer shows! Just announced are a couple of SoCal shows including Club London (at El Cid in Silver Lake) on 4/22, and then Anaheim's Juke Joint on 4/24. We haven't had a whole weekend down in SoCal for two years, and believe us when we say that we're really looking forward to coming back! We hope that you discerning Smiths fans to the south will welcome our return. On top of that, our next big San Francisco show will be another huge (all ages) Morrissey birthday celebration at Slim's on 5/22! Last year's show was absolutely amazing, and this year will see a new and exciting lineup. Details to come on these shows, as well as the many, many more that are in the works. In the meantime, stay handsome!

March 7th, 2010
Third Time's The "Charm"
We sure hope you didn't miss last night's massive sold out show in Fresno! Thanks to the hundreds of you that came to sing and dance with us, and of course to Dead Souls for helping to make the night such a huge success. Fresno never disappoints us. We hope the feeling is mutual. But it's not over yet... our three-weekend streak culminates this Saturday (3/13) in Sacramento at another one of our favorite haunts: Blue Lamp! And we're breaking tradition a bit this time... rather than just us, we'll also be joined by local legends The Snobs. We're looking forward to it. Are you?

February 27th, 2010
When In Chrome
We had a great time at Santa Rosa's brand new Chrome Lotus club last night, and we hope you all did too! This place is sure to be a welcome addition to Santa Rosa's nightlife. But there's hardly time to take a breath, because we're jumping right back into the fray (3/6) with a killer show at one of our favorite venues: Fresno's Club Fred! And unlike our usual solo nights there, this time we're bringing along our friends Dead Souls. Fresno has already, without exception, been a wild night for us... but now with the help of Dead Souls, we might actually bring the house down. Beware!

February 6th, 2010
Selling Out The Blank, Meeting Johnny Marr
What an amazing sold out show last night in San Jose! We hope you all enjoyed the mix of hits and deep cuts, Smiths and Moz solo. Big thanks to all the fans and friends that joined us for the celebration and stayed to the end! And special thanks to Sing Blue Silver who helped us out with the debut of their killer new lineup! Now, in about three weeks, we'll be up in Santa Rosa (2/26) at the new Chrome Lotus. Hope to see you there! Quick side note: our guitarist Benjamin was recently fortunate enough to meet his hero -- Johnny Marr himself -- after a Cribs show in S.F. The verdict? "Johnny Marr just could not have been a nicer guy, and it was an absolute honor and pleasure meeting him!"

January 23rd, 2010
2 + 2 = 4
Thank you all who joined us at Red Devil Lounge on the 8th! We saw a lot of new faces and a lot of you dancing and singing along to every song... even the deep cuts. Bravo! Is it safe to assume your first TCB show won't be your last? For those of you who've been with us a while, you already knew that Fresno and Sacramento were coming up in March. But just announced, we've also got San Jose and Santa Rosa in February! In San Jose (2/5), it'll be the venerable Blank Club, where we're excited to be joined by the newly-reformed Sing Blue Silver (tribute to Duran Duran)! Then in Santa Rosa (2/26), we'll be appearing at the brand-spanking-new Chrome Lotus with our old North Bay friends Luv'n Rockets! Check out the shows page for all the details. We're finishing out the first quarter with a quartet of fantastic California shows, and you are advised to witness at least one of them...

January 1st, 2010
Happy New Year!
Welcome to 2010, friends! Thanks to the hundreds of you that came out last night and rang in the new year with TCB in Seattle! Awesome sets from Dead Souls, Love Vigilantes, and Fascination Street rounded out the evening. NYE trivia: our bassist Paul played in a staggering three of the four bands, earning him the tribute band Iron Man award. Nick also filled in for Love Vigilantes, who also saw a guest appearance by Orlandissey. Even Benjamin (our fake Johnny Marr) joined Love Vigilantes' Rickie (their fake Bernard Sumner) for a rendition of Electronic's "Getting Away With It." It all made some sort of cosmic sense in tribute land. Anyway, great times had by all! Here's to a lervely 2010! Coming up next Friday (1/8), we're already playing our first show of the decade. We'll be at Red Devil Lounge with The Reptile House. (You can get your tickets early at TicketWeb.) One last note, we've added a couple of upcoming March dates to the shows page, specifically Fresno and Sacramento. More details to come!

December 7th, 2009
The Sisters Of Morrissey
We're pleased to announce that The Reptile House (SF's own tribute to The Sisters Of Mercy) will be joining us at Red Devil Lounge on January 8th... and helping to make that night a little darker. We've seen them several times but never shared a stage, and we can't wait! Also, you can grab your tickets for this show early at TicketWeb.

December 6th, 2009
New Year's Eve in Seattle!
Well friends, it seems we spoke too soon. We've managed to sneak one more show into 2009, and this one on New Year's Eve in Seattle! We're returning to the great northwest to ring in the new year at The Showbox (at SoDo), the bigger sister to the one we played in May. Once again, we'll be joined by Fascination Street and Love Vigilantes, but unlike last time, we're bringing Dead Souls with us from San Francisco! It's going to be a massive NYE night of Smiths, Morrissey, Cure, New Order, and Joy Division... all LIVE! What better way to say 'ello to 2010?

December 3rd, 2009
Did you see him?
It's only been 24 hours since Morrissey himself was gracing the stage in Oakland, but we already miss him. We were there! Were you? Until we meet again... *sigh*. First off, thank you to all who participated in the ongoing tradition of Popscene's Meat Is Murder night and helped make it the party that it always is! Another year is almost behind us friends. Can you believe it? Well, TCB will be ringing in 2010 with a January 8th show at San Francisco's Red Devil Lounge! There will be an opening band that night too, but just exactly who is still TBD. It should be a great evening, as we've been busy learning new songs, and we'll definitely have some surprises ready for you. So mark your calendars: TCB w/ TBD on 1/8. More details to come!

October 12th, 2009
The Smiths, Popscene, and Tofurky
It was another packed house at Café Du Nord, and we had a blast! A big thanks to all the fans who made the night what it was, including a strong showing from the Choir Boys and even a visiting Moz Krew representative! And thanks again to Erasure-esque for joining us for the evening... they're one of our new favorite tributes! Now, next month is November, and that means our fifth consecutive Thanksgiving "Meat Is Murder" Smiths night at San Francisco's Popscene! Aside from being the club famously responsible for first breaking so many great new bands in the Bay Area, it's also one of the few "18 and over" clubs we play around here. So if you're in or around San Francisco on T-Day, without your family, or just sick of them: come and join in a local tradition! What better way to work off all that tofurky than to dance your legs down to the knees?

September 14th, 2009
Du Nord Awaits!
We're looking forward to next weekend's big show at Café Du Nord on Friday, September 25th! Unfortunately, our friends Love Vigilantes won't be joining us after all, so the night will be opened by the exciting Erasure-esque, followed by us! Also, just a reminder to pick up your tickets early. Du Nord is one of our most consistent sell-outs! You can get your tickets here. Can't wait to see you all!

August 16th, 2009
A Little Respect
It was great to see so many of our old friends out at The Blank Club on Friday, and thanks again to Brian Lee Dunning and his makeshift band (which included Rory Justice, Constacio of The Border-Hoppin' Boys, and our own Nick Laquintano) for their rockin' take on early Elvis. We hope you all had as much fun as we did! Our next show will be here in San Francisco and should be a great one! We'll be at Café Du Nord on Friday, September 25th, and we'll be joined by Erasure-esque (a tribute we've been wanting to play with for some time now), and the whole night will be opened with a set by our visiting friends: Seattle's Love Vigilantes (a tribute to New Order)! Beware that we have sold out Du Nord every time we've ever played there, and with these two supporting acts, another sell out is virtually guaranteed. So get your tickets in advance!

August 12th, 2009
Journalists Who Don't Lie
Whereas Morrissey traditionally has a love/hate relationship with the press, it's always been mercifully kind to us. And as such, it's always nice to get a pleasant write up, like the one in this week's Metro regarding our upcoming Blank show! (And as long as we're shamelessly promoting with links here, a complimentary mention on the occasional blog doesn't hurt either.) OK, if we've blown our own horn sufficiently... see you Friday, charmers!

August 9th, 2009
A very old friend came by today...
Just back from Anaheim, and we want to thank all of you who came out to see us at The House Of Blues last night, including many friends and a strong showing from Moz Krew! It's a lot of fun to play great venues like that, and it was all the better for us being able to hit SoCal again for the first time this year. We had a blast and hope you all did too! And thanks to Super Diamond for having us back! It's not even a week before our next show though, as we return to our favorite South Bay haunt The Blank Club this Friday (8/14)! Normally, we take the whole night ourselves, but this time we're happy to have our friend Brian Lee Dunning supporting us, here all the way from Oklahoma and doing a set of early Elvis tunes. Don't miss it!

July 19th, 2009
Back To The Old House (Of Blues)
Thanks as always to the great fans that make Sacramento and Fresno so much fun to visit! It was an exciting weekend of Smiths and Morrissey, stage invasions, and floral destruction with old friends, new friends, and even some Moz Krew representation! Coming up next, we've just confirmed a spot supporting Super Diamond at the House Of Blues in Anaheim! This is our first trip down to SoCal in some time, so we hope to see some of you out there! Super Diamond shows tend to sell out, and this is an all-ages venue. Get your tickets early! You can pick them up online here. SoCal, here we come!

The past never really dies... not really.
We had a lervely time revisiting Santa Rosa last night! Thank you to the northern fans that came out for us and of course to the excellent Luv'n Rockets for inviting us up there. We're already looking ahead to this upcoming weekend when we'll be making one of our favorite trips: Sacramento and Fresno! This Friday (7/17), we'll be back at Sacramento's Blue Lamp, followed on Saturday (7/18) by another big show at Fresno's Club Fred! We love both of these venues, and we can't wait to return (with some new songs up our collective sleeves). And remember that they usually sell out, so get your tickets early! See you there, friends!

Yet another voice from the past...
Well, a venue from the past anyway... and hot on the heels of last week's amazing birthday show at Ireland's 32 (where we were unexpectedly joined by former TCB guitarist Peter Weldon, played a few songs with Benjamin's own dad, and even unleashed a few original compositions)! Next Friday (7/11), we're returning to Santa Rosa's Last Day Saloon, another place we haven't played in nearly three years! It's like 2006 all over again, friends! This time we'll be joined by Dead Souls, as well as local Santa Rosa boys Luv'n Rockets, a tribute to (you guessed it) Love And Rockets! We're looking forward to this one! And don't forget, we have another great Sacramento/Fresno weekend coming up the weekend after that (7/17, 7/18). And then we've just added a Blank Club show in August (8/14)! Our busy summer continues...

Birthdays and Fan Appreciation!
First off, thank you to everyone who joined us in Reno! Hope to see you all again soon! There's no time to rest though... we're back at it this Friday (6/26) with a show we've been looking forward to for a long time. We'll be returning to Ireland's 32 in San Francisco for the first time in almost three years! For those of you who remember the early days of TCB, this was one of our favorite places to play, and we've got some great memories there. This Friday, we'll be back there to celebrate Nick's birthday as well as Benjamin's dreaded 30th birthday! It will all be part of a free show to say thank you to the many fans and friends that have supported us all these years. It'll be an unusual night in that in addition to the usual Smiths and Morrissey classics, we plan to let our pompadours down a little by including a few surprises in the set. Part TCB show, part birthday party, and part anything goes... come out and celebrate with us in San Francisco!

The rain falls hard?
It seems luck was with us, because it was beautiful and sunny in both Portland and Seattle last weekend! Thank you to the hundreds of fans who came out in Portland, and the hundreds more in Seattle! We were thrilled to meet all of you and to play for such big crowds during our first visit to your respective cities! Thanks again to Love Vigilantes as well as Black Celebration and Fascination Street. We hope to come back soon! In the mean time, we're looking ahead to a great summer of shows, kicking off this month with our first trip to Reno at the Tonic Lounge on Friday (6/19). This will be followed the next Friday (6/26) by a special San Francisco birthday show for our resident Cancers, Nick and Benjamin (who is turning 30 on that very day!). And this birthday party will be happening at Ireland's 32, birthplace of the Choir Boys! Can you believe it's been nearly three years since we last played there? We hope it'll be quite a homecoming!

Happy birthday, Morrissey! (from San Francisco, with love)
Thank you to the hundreds of fans who joined us last night to celebrate Mozzer's big 50 at Slim's! Everyone seemed to be enjoying the bash -- singing along, dancing their legs down to the knees, and of course eating cupcakes! Thank you to Love Vigilantes, Dead Souls, and DJ Aaron Axelsen for helping to make the evening a huge success! We'll be rejoining Love Vigilantes again this very weekend for a show at Portland's Wonder Ballroom on Friday (5/29) and Seattle's The Showbox (at the Market) on Saturday (5/30)... and we hope to see make some new friends with you Pacific Northwest Smiths fans! Also, take note of the shows page, where we've just listed a ton of summer shows coming up, including Reno, Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Fresno, and a very special birthday show at one of our old stomping grounds: Ireland's 32 in San Francisco! More details on all of these in the coming weeks. One final note, for those of you that missed our appearance on Pirate Cat Radio's The Killing Moon, a free mp3 download/podcast is available here (our performance starts about 80 minutes into the file).

TCB On The Radio
Just a heads up that we'll be on San Francisco's "Pirate Cat Radio" this Thursday evening (5/21) around 7:00pm. We'll be promoting Friday's Slim's show by doing a few special live acoustic numbers and giving away some free tickets! You can listen locally at 87.9FM, stream it online, or even stop by the Pirate Cat Radio Cafe in person and watch us live (at 2781 21st St. here in San Francisco). Hope you can tune in, friends!

Stars Align
It's just a little over two weeks now until Morrissey's big semicentennial birthday, and that means our big Manchester "Unhappy Birthday" celebration is just around the corner! And you don't even have to be 50 to get in... or even 18! (OK, but you do have to be at least 6.) We're excited to share the stage for the first time with Seattle's fantastic New Order tribute Love Vigilantes and of course local Joy Division tribute Dead Souls. Not only that, but we're thrilled to have Live 105's DJ Aaron Axelsen (Popscene/Leisure) spinning for you between sets! And how about another special guest flyer courtesy of R. Black? The Mancunian music of The Smiths, New Order, and Joy Division... all live, all in one night! Couldn't you just die?

The Songs That Saved Your Night
Thank you to all the fans from far and wide (Seattle! Reno!) who came to the Blackthorn show last night to make the most of the evening in light of Morrissey's cancelled show. It was a free-for-all with the audience helping to dictate the set list, and people dancing and singing their sorrows away. It certainly helped us feel better about the night, and we hope you enjoyed it too. Here's hoping we all see Moz again soon! In other big news, you'll see that we've added two more great dates to the shows page... because TCB is invading the Pacific Northwest! That's right, for the first time ever, we'll be playing shows in Portland (at the all-ages Wonder Ballroom) and then in Seattle (at The Showbox @ Market). We're really looking forward to visiting a couple of big cities in areas we've never played. So if you're up North and have been waiting for a chance to hear some live Smiths/Moz, your chance is coming up. More details soon!

Morrissey Cancels = Free TCB Show Tonight!
We're all still reeling from the disappointing cancellation of tonight's Morrissey show in Oakland. (We all had tickets too!) But for you heartbroken Smiths/Moz fans here in the Bay Area, particularly those who have travelled long distances to be here and are now stranded, we have thrown together a last-minute impromptu show at the Blackthorn Tavern Irish pub in San Francisco just for you! We're going on at 10:00pm. It's a bar, so 21+ is the rule, but there is no cover! A free show is the least we can do to get some fans together to commiserate, drown our sorrows, and send Moz a "get well" in the form of dancing our collective legs down to the knees. If you're here in the Bay Area and you're missing Morrissey, make the most of the night and come see the next best thing!

Certain People We Know
Rockabilly night at the Blank went over even better than expected, thanks to a packed house of serious Smiths fans! Thanks to all of you who shared the evening with us (and witnessed Paul's debut on the bull fiddle!). Well charmers, our next show is going to be huge. Morrissey turns 50 on May 22nd, and we'll be celebrating with a special birthday show at Slim's here in San Francisco! You may recall the amazing night we had at this awesome (and all ages) venue last August... well we're coming back, and this time it's all Manchester! We'll be joined by Seattle's visiting New Order tribute Love Vigilantes as well as local Joy Division tribute Dead Souls (which also happens to feature our own Paul and Orlandissey). Once in a lifetime, friends. Mozzer's semicentennial and the music of Mancunian titans like The Smiths, New Order, and Joy Division all add up to one night you surely won't want to miss! Check back for more information as the date draws near.

All A Tremulous Heart Requires
Thank you to all the fans that came out to celebrate the Smiths' first album with us in Sacramento and Fresno! Everyone had a great time, and we hope to have some audio/video up for you soon. But we're not resting, because in less than two weeks we'll be back in San Jose for a special event at the Blank Club (Friday, March 20th). It's going to be "rockabilly night" for TCB as we dedicate one of our evening's two sets to the most rockabilly of the Smiths and Morrissey's canons. From Rusholme Ruffians to Sing Your Life, you won't want to miss it! One last quick note, we've got big plans for a Morrissey birthday show this year. He's turning 50 in May, and we plan to celebrate in style. More details to come...

... after years of refusal.
Just a quick note: Morrissey's new album "Years Of Refusal" came out today here in the States! Have you picked up your copy yet? Also, we've just updated the Gallery with 50+ new pictures, covering the last year or so. Check it out!

We're throwing our arms around... Sacramento and Fresno!
Well friends, we're just a few short weeks from our 25th Anniversary weekend where we'll be playing all of the Smiths' first album live at two back-to-back dates. We're really looking forward to performing these songs and returning to a couple of our favorite towns. Sacramento's Blue Lamp has always been good to us, and Fresno's Club Fred has sold out the last two times we've played there. Great venues and amazing fans are what make these shows such an experience, and the buzz has already begun. Don't miss out! Also, just added to the calendar, on March 20th we'll be returning to our number one South Bay destination: The Blank Club. But this time, we've got something special in the works. Something unlike any of our previous shows. More details to come!

It's time the tale were told...
Happy New Year! Once again, it was a wild (and third consecutive) sold out show at Café Du Nord last Friday night! Thanks to all the friends and fans from far and wide that came out to celebrate with us (including the Moz Krew and the Choir Boys)! And apologies to the many who were turned away at the door due to the overwhelming crowd -- we wish everyone could have gotten in! But we hope to see you next time! Speaking of "next time," we have two back-to-back dates scheduled at the end of February when we'll be returning to Sacramento and Fresno for a pair of very special shows. As we mentioned a while back, next month marks the 25th anniversary of the release of the Smiths' debut album, and to honor it, we'll be playing all of its 11 songs live (in addition to other Smiths and Morrissey classics). From "Reel Around The Fountain" to "Suffer Little Children," you'll hear them all. And we can't wait!
