The Sisters Of Morrissey
We're pleased to announce that The Reptile House (SF's own tribute to The Sisters Of Mercy) will be joining us at Red Devil Lounge on January 8th... and helping to make that night a little darker. We've seen them several times but never shared a stage, and we can't wait! Also, you can grab your tickets for this show early at TicketWeb.

New Year's Eve in Seattle!
Well friends, it seems we spoke too soon. We've managed to sneak one more show into 2009, and this one on New Year's Eve in Seattle! We're returning to the great northwest to ring in the new year at The Showbox (at SoDo), the bigger sister to the one we played in May. Once again, we'll be joined by Fascination Street and Love Vigilantes, but unlike last time, we're bringing Dead Souls with us from San Francisco! It's going to be a massive NYE night of Smiths, Morrissey, Cure, New Order, and Joy Division... all LIVE! What better way to say 'ello to 2010?

Did you see him?
It's only been 24 hours since Morrissey himself was gracing the stage in Oakland, but we already miss him. We were there! Were you? Until we meet again... *sigh*. First off, thank you to all who participated in the ongoing tradition of Popscene's Meat Is Murder night and helped make it the party that it always is! Another year is almost behind us friends. Can you believe it? Well, TCB will be ringing in 2010 with a January 8th show at San Francisco's Red Devil Lounge! There will be an opening band that night too, but just exactly who is still TBD. It should be a great evening, as we've been busy learning new songs, and we'll definitely have some surprises ready for you. So mark your calendars: TCB w/ TBD on 1/8. More details to come!

The Smiths, Popscene, and Tofurky
It was another packed house at Café Du Nord, and we had a blast! A big thanks to all the fans who made the night what it was, including a strong showing from the Choir Boys and even a visiting Moz Krew representative! And thanks again to Erasure-esque for joining us for the evening... they're one of our new favorite tributes! Now, next month is November, and that means our fifth consecutive Thanksgiving "Meat Is Murder" Smiths night at San Francisco's Popscene! Aside from being the club famously responsible for first breaking so many great new bands in the Bay Area, it's also one of the few "18 and over" clubs we play around here. So if you're in or around San Francisco on T-Day, without your family, or just sick of them: come and join in a local tradition! What better way to work off all that tofurky than to dance your legs down to the knees?

Du Nord Awaits!
We're looking forward to next weekend's big show at Café Du Nord on Friday, September 25th! Unfortunately, our friends Love Vigilantes won't be joining us after all, so the night will be opened by the exciting Erasure-esque, followed by us! Also, just a reminder to pick up your tickets early. Du Nord is one of our most consistent sell-outs! You can get your tickets here. Can't wait to see you all!

A Little Respect
It was great to see so many of our old friends out at The Blank Club on Friday, and thanks again to Brian Lee Dunning and his makeshift band (which included Rory Justice, Constacio of The Border-Hoppin' Boys, and our own Nick Laquintano) for their rockin' take on early Elvis. We hope you all had as much fun as we did! Our next show will be here in San Francisco and should be a great one! We'll be at Café Du Nord on Friday, September 25th, and we'll be joined by Erasure-esque (a tribute we've been wanting to play with for some time now), and the whole night will be opened with a set by our visiting friends: Seattle's Love Vigilantes (a tribute to New Order)! Beware that we have sold out Du Nord every time we've ever played there, and with these two supporting acts, another sell out is virtually guaranteed. So get your tickets in advance!

Journalists Who Don't Lie
Whereas Morrissey traditionally has a love/hate relationship with the press, it's always been mercifully kind to us. And as such, it's always nice to get a pleasant write up, like the one in this week's Metro regarding our upcoming Blank show! (And as long as we're shamelessly promoting with links here, a complimentary mention on the occasional blog doesn't hurt either.) OK, if we've blown our own horn sufficiently... see you Friday, charmers!

A very old friend came by today...
Just back from Anaheim, and we want to thank all of you who came out to see us at The House Of Blues last night, including many friends and a strong showing from Moz Krew! It's a lot of fun to play great venues like that, and it was all the better for us being able to hit SoCal again for the first time this year. We had a blast and hope you all did too! And thanks to Super Diamond for having us back! It's not even a week before our next show though, as we return to our favorite South Bay haunt The Blank Club this Friday (8/14)! Normally, we take the whole night ourselves, but this time we're happy to have our friend Brian Lee Dunning supporting us, here all the way from Oklahoma and doing a set of early Elvis tunes. Don't miss it!

Back To The Old House (Of Blues)
Thanks as always to the great fans that make Sacramento and Fresno so much fun to visit! It was an exciting weekend of Smiths and Morrissey, stage invasions, and floral destruction with old friends, new friends, and even some Moz Krew representation! Coming up next, we've just confirmed a spot supporting Super Diamond at the House Of Blues in Anaheim! This is our first trip down to SoCal in some time, so we hope to see some of you out there! Super Diamond shows tend to sell out, and this is an all-ages venue. Get your tickets early! You can pick them up online here. SoCal, here we come!

The past never really dies... not really.
We had a lervely time revisiting Santa Rosa last night! Thank you to the northern fans that came out for us and of course to the excellent Luv'n Rockets for inviting us up there. We're already looking ahead to this upcoming weekend when we'll be making one of our favorite trips: Sacramento and Fresno! This Friday (7/17), we'll be back at Sacramento's Blue Lamp, followed on Saturday (7/18) by another big show at Fresno's Club Fred! We love both of these venues, and we can't wait to return (with some new songs up our collective sleeves). And remember that they usually sell out, so get your tickets early! See you there, friends!

Yet another voice from the past...
Well, a venue from the past anyway... and hot on the heels of last week's amazing birthday show at Ireland's 32 (where we were unexpectedly joined by former TCB guitarist Peter Weldon, played a few songs with Benjamin's own dad, and even unleashed a few original compositions)! Next Friday (7/11), we're returning to Santa Rosa's Last Day Saloon, another place we haven't played in nearly three years! It's like 2006 all over again, friends! This time we'll be joined by Dead Souls, as well as local Santa Rosa boys Luv'n Rockets, a tribute to (you guessed it) Love And Rockets! We're looking forward to this one! And don't forget, we have another great Sacramento/Fresno weekend coming up the weekend after that (7/17, 7/18). And then we've just added a Blank Club show in August (8/14)! Our busy summer continues...

Birthdays and Fan Appreciation!
First off, thank you to everyone who joined us in Reno! Hope to see you all again soon! There's no time to rest though... we're back at it this Friday (6/26) with a show we've been looking forward to for a long time. We'll be returning to Ireland's 32 in San Francisco for the first time in almost three years! For those of you who remember the early days of TCB, this was one of our favorite places to play, and we've got some great memories there. This Friday, we'll be back there to celebrate Nick's birthday as well as Benjamin's dreaded 30th birthday! It will all be part of a free show to say thank you to the many fans and friends that have supported us all these years. It'll be an unusual night in that in addition to the usual Smiths and Morrissey classics, we plan to let our pompadours down a little by including a few surprises in the set. Part TCB show, part birthday party, and part anything goes... come out and celebrate with us in San Francisco!

The rain falls hard?
It seems luck was with us, because it was beautiful and sunny in both Portland and Seattle last weekend! Thank you to the hundreds of fans who came out in Portland, and the hundreds more in Seattle! We were thrilled to meet all of you and to play for such big crowds during our first visit to your respective cities! Thanks again to Love Vigilantes as well as Black Celebration and Fascination Street. We hope to come back soon! In the mean time, we're looking ahead to a great summer of shows, kicking off this month with our first trip to Reno at the Tonic Lounge on Friday (6/19). This will be followed the next Friday (6/26) by a special San Francisco birthday show for our resident Cancers, Nick and Benjamin (who is turning 30 on that very day!). And this birthday party will be happening at Ireland's 32, birthplace of the Choir Boys! Can you believe it's been nearly three years since we last played there? We hope it'll be quite a homecoming!

Happy birthday, Morrissey! (from San Francisco, with love)
Thank you to the hundreds of fans who joined us last night to celebrate Mozzer's big 50 at Slim's! Everyone seemed to be enjoying the bash -- singing along, dancing their legs down to the knees, and of course eating cupcakes! Thank you to Love Vigilantes, Dead Souls, and DJ Aaron Axelsen for helping to make the evening a huge success! We'll be rejoining Love Vigilantes again this very weekend for a show at Portland's Wonder Ballroom on Friday (5/29) and Seattle's The Showbox (at the Market) on Saturday (5/30)... and we hope to see make some new friends with you Pacific Northwest Smiths fans! Also, take note of the shows page, where we've just listed a ton of summer shows coming up, including Reno, Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Fresno, and a very special birthday show at one of our old stomping grounds: Ireland's 32 in San Francisco! More details on all of these in the coming weeks. One final note, for those of you that missed our appearance on Pirate Cat Radio's The Killing Moon, a free mp3 download/podcast is available here (our performance starts about 80 minutes into the file).

TCB On The Radio
Just a heads up that we'll be on San Francisco's "Pirate Cat Radio" this Thursday evening (5/21) around 7:00pm. We'll be promoting Friday's Slim's show by doing a few special live acoustic numbers and giving away some free tickets! You can listen locally at 87.9FM, stream it online, or even stop by the Pirate Cat Radio Cafe in person and watch us live (at 2781 21st St. here in San Francisco). Hope you can tune in, friends!
May 6th, 2009
It's just a little over two weeks now until Morrissey's big semicentennial birthday, and that means our big Manchester "Unhappy Birthday" celebration is just around the corner! And you don't even have to be 50 to get in... or even 18! (OK, but you do have to be at least 6.) We're excited to share the stage for the first time with Seattle's fantastic New Order tribute Love Vigilantes and of course local Joy Division tribute Dead Souls. Not only that, but we're thrilled to have Live 105's DJ Aaron Axelsen (Popscene/Leisure) spinning for you between sets! And how about another special guest flyer courtesy of R. Black? The Mancunian music of The Smiths, New Order, and Joy Division... all live, all in one night! Couldn't you just die?

The Songs That Saved Your Night
Thank you to all the fans from far and wide (Seattle! Reno!) who came to the Blackthorn show last night to make the most of the evening in light of Morrissey's cancelled show. It was a free-for-all with the audience helping to dictate the set list, and people dancing and singing their sorrows away. It certainly helped us feel better about the night, and we hope you enjoyed it too. Here's hoping we all see Moz again soon! In other big news, you'll see that we've added two more great dates to the shows page... because TCB is invading the Pacific Northwest! That's right, for the first time ever, we'll be playing shows in Portland (at the all-ages Wonder Ballroom) and then in Seattle (at The Showbox @ Market). We're really looking forward to visiting a couple of big cities in areas we've never played. So if you're up North and have been waiting for a chance to hear some live Smiths/Moz, your chance is coming up. More details soon!

Morrissey Cancels = Free TCB Show Tonight!
We're all still reeling from the disappointing cancellation of tonight's Morrissey show in Oakland. (We all had tickets too!) But for you heartbroken Smiths/Moz fans here in the Bay Area, particularly those who have travelled long distances to be here and are now stranded, we have thrown together a last-minute impromptu show at the Blackthorn Tavern Irish pub in San Francisco just for you! We're going on at 10:00pm. It's a bar, so 21+ is the rule, but there is no cover! A free show is the least we can do to get some fans together to commiserate, drown our sorrows, and send Moz a "get well" in the form of dancing our collective legs down to the knees. If you're here in the Bay Area and you're missing Morrissey, make the most of the night and come see the next best thing!

Certain People We Know
Rockabilly night at the Blank went over even better than expected, thanks to a packed house of serious Smiths fans! Thanks to all of you who shared the evening with us (and witnessed Paul's debut on the bull fiddle!). Well charmers, our next show is going to be huge. Morrissey turns 50 on May 22nd, and we'll be celebrating with a special birthday show at Slim's here in San Francisco! You may recall the amazing night we had at this awesome (and all ages) venue last August... well we're coming back, and this time it's all Manchester! We'll be joined by Seattle's visiting New Order tribute Love Vigilantes as well as local Joy Division tribute Dead Souls (which also happens to feature our own Paul and Orlandissey). Once in a lifetime, friends. Mozzer's semicentennial and the music of Mancunian titans like The Smiths, New Order, and Joy Division all add up to one night you surely won't want to miss! Check back for more information as the date draws near.

All A Tremulous Heart Requires
Thank you to all the fans that came out to celebrate the Smiths' first album with us in Sacramento and Fresno! Everyone had a great time, and we hope to have some audio/video up for you soon. But we're not resting, because in less than two weeks we'll be back in San Jose for a special event at the Blank Club (Friday, March 20th). It's going to be "rockabilly night" for TCB as we dedicate one of our evening's two sets to the most rockabilly of the Smiths and Morrissey's canons. From Rusholme Ruffians to Sing Your Life, you won't want to miss it! One last quick note, we've got big plans for a Morrissey birthday show this year. He's turning 50 in May, and we plan to celebrate in style. More details to come...
February 17th, 2009
... after years of refusal.
Just a quick note: Morrissey's new album "Years Of Refusal" came out today here in the States! Have you picked up your copy yet? Also, we've just updated the Gallery with 50+ new pictures, covering the last year or so. Check it out!

We're throwing our arms around... Sacramento and Fresno!
Well friends, we're just a few short weeks from our 25th Anniversary weekend where we'll be playing all of the Smiths' first album live at two back-to-back dates. We're really looking forward to performing these songs and returning to a couple of our favorite towns. Sacramento's Blue Lamp has always been good to us, and Fresno's Club Fred has sold out the last two times we've played there. Great venues and amazing fans are what make these shows such an experience, and the buzz has already begun. Don't miss out! Also, just added to the calendar, on March 20th we'll be returning to our number one South Bay destination: The Blank Club. But this time, we've got something special in the works. Something unlike any of our previous shows. More details to come!

It's time the tale were told...
Happy New Year! Once again, it was a wild (and third consecutive) sold out show at Café Du Nord last Friday night! Thanks to all the friends and fans from far and wide that came out to celebrate with us (including the Moz Krew and the Choir Boys)! And apologies to the many who were turned away at the door due to the overwhelming crowd -- we wish everyone could have gotten in! But we hope to see you next time! Speaking of "next time," we have two back-to-back dates scheduled at the end of February when we'll be returning to Sacramento and Fresno for a pair of very special shows. As we mentioned a while back, next month marks the 25th anniversary of the release of the Smiths' debut album, and to honor it, we'll be playing all of its 11 songs live (in addition to other Smiths and Morrissey classics). From "Reel Around The Fountain" to "Suffer Little Children," you'll hear them all. And we can't wait!

Ringing in the new year!
As 2008 comes to a close, we look back on our final show of the year... last month's Popscene Thanksgiving! It was another amazing night, this time with a set consisting entirely of songs voted on by the fans. The evening saw classics like "Cemetry Gates," new songs (at least for us) like "Hairdresser On Fire," and even some unexpected numbers like "Alma Matters." But we're starting 2009 off immediately with a show at San Francisco's Café Du Nord on Friday, January 2nd! Both times we've played this great venue, we have sold it out! So we can't stress enough, if you want to be a part of this event, try to get your tickets early! Our two previous Du Nord shows have been among our best ever, and this time around we'll be supported by Beauty and the Beat, an all-girl (duh!) tribute to The Go-Go's! A good time is inevitable! And finally, one piece of advanced news regarding future 2009 shows. We have booked a couple of dates near the end of February where we will be commemorating the 25th anniversary of the release of the Smiths' eponymous first album by playing it live, in its entirety! More details to come!

November Means Popscene
Next week will be our fourth consecutive Thanksgiving "Meat Is Murder" Smiths night at San Francisco's Popscene, which also happens to be one of the few places we play in the area that's not strictly 21 and over. We're trying something new this year in that our set list will be made up entirely of songs chosen by fans on Popscene's website. So you're sure to hear the hits, but some new surprises as well. If you're in or around San Francisco on T-Day, come and join in a local tradition! What better way to work off all that tofurky than to dance your legs down to the knees?
October 9th, 2008
We just want to say... we haven't been away.
The last couple of months have seen a couple of big shows! Our massive Slim's show was a huge success, so thank you to the hundreds of fans and friends that turned out for it. And thank you again to Little Bitches and RockSteady who both played exciting sets and helped make the night the party that it was! Special thanks to our old pal (and TCB charter member) Wally Cook, who filled in seamlessly on bass! Then in September we returned to San Jose for a fantastic show at one of our favorite venues: The Blank Club. Paul was back on bass, and many friends were on hand. Some of the cast of MTV's Jackass actually showed up too. Next in our sights is our fourth Thanksgiving show at Popscene (18+) where we got our start back in 2005. More details to come, but if you're in San Francisco on Thanksgiving, you know where to go!
August 6th, 2008
Supporting bands announced! Flyer's here!
More news about our big upcoming Slim's show on August 29th! First off, we'll be joined by a couple of great local tributes. We have our old friends, the amazing Little Bitches (a tribute to Weezer), who recently won a Live105 contest and had the chance to actually play with Weezer! Also joining us for the first time is RockSteady (a tribute to No Doubt), who our own Nick has played with! And then in other news, our special guest flyer is finally ready, thanks to the illustrious R. Black! Check it all out!
July 24th, 2008
Slim's Show Scheduled!
Once again, we had an amazing couple of shows in Sacramento and Fresno, and for the second time in a row, Fresno's Club Fred was a complete sell out! Thank you to all our friends and fans (including the Choir Boys and the Moz Krew) who helped make those two nights of Smiths celebration a couple of our wildest shows to date! These were truly nights to remember (and if you were there, then you know). We hope to get some videos posted soon, and we look forward to returning to both Sacto and Fresno as soon as we can! Now, onto even bigger news: our next scheduled show is a massive headlining night at Slim's in San Francisco! Shortly, we'll be announcing the bands to join us that evening, and on top of that, we're planning a very special guest flyer for this, our biggest Bay Area show yet! It's sure to be a huge night, and you can bet that we'll be pulling out all the stops! We couldn't be more excited about it... more details to come!
July 13th, 2008
Sacramental and Fresno Infamous
Thank you to the sell out crowd who came to see us last night at Monterey Live, and thank you to Novela who joined us and put on an excellent set! We had a lot of fun this first time out in Monterey, and we'll surely be back soon. Now, on to even more amazing shows... this upcoming weekend, we're making one of our favorite trips: the Sacto/Fresno weekend! Friday night, we'll be returning to the Blue Lamp in Sacramento to celebrate with the many Smiths/Moz fans there who always seem ready to dance and sing along. Then Saturday we'll be making our long-awaited return to Club Fred in Fresno, where last September's show was a sell out! We're really looking forward to these shows and unleashing some new songs. Can't wait to see all our old (and new) friends!

Rock The Vote
Hullo friends! Why not have a look at the venerable SF Bay Guardian's 2008 Best of the Bay reader's poll? The Best Of The Bay issue hits the stands July 30th, and needless to say that it would be a great way for us to reach the Bay Area's many Smiths and Morrissey fans that may not even know we're in their own backyard! So if you've seen us and feel we deserve it -- and you know we do -- please check out their site and cast your vote for "This Charming Band" for "Best Cover Band" (question #29 on page #2). Be aware the the "poll" closes at 5pm, July 2nd! Thank you for your continued support!
June 16th, 2008
New Adventures and New Faces
We want to extend our thanks to our old friend William Jasper who had returned to play bass with us for the last three shows. It was great to have him back, but now he's on to new adventures touring with Rogue Wave. Congratulations on this huge accomplishment! I guess we'll be seeing you at Lollapalooza! But fear not, as all our July shows (Monterey, Sacramento, and Fresno), will be played by Paul from The Ghost Of Curtis! We're thrilled to have him on board, and he's thrilled to be honoring the Smiths. Now we'll see you all in July!
May 17th, 2008
San Francisco... you are too hot!
Friends, as anticipated it was another sold out show at Café Du Nord on an uncharacteristically hot San Franciscan night! Thank you to all who came from as far and wide as Monterey, Sacramento, and beyond just to help us celebrate the music of the Smiths! We are truly blessed and honored to have shared the evening with so many of you. Friendly faces from past shows were with us, as well as several new ones. Whether you were new to the Smiths, or just new to us, we thank you and we hope we did it justice. Thank you also to The Ghost Of Curtis who did an amazing job and received a great reception. In a couple of weeks, we'll be making our first trip to Santa Cruz to play the Blue Lagoon with a few new tributes... and we hope to see you there!
May 15th, 2008
The Harsh Truth Of The Camera Eye
Well, we've finally posted some new and long-overdue pictures... in fact, there hadn't been any new ones since last June's shows! So basically the last year's(!!!) worth of pictures have now been posted in the Gallery. Nearly 100 of them! From as far back as last July through our most recent show. We're up to date now, so check them out and re-live those fond memories. We're looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow at Café Du Nord! Advanced tickets are going even faster than last time, so get yours ahead of time if you can!
May 8th, 2008
A moved show, a new show, and an upcoming show...
Hullo charmers... you may have noticed that one of our three May shows (Club Fred in Fresno) has been rescheduled and pushed out to July 19th, but the good news is that we've added another show in Sacramento the night before at the Blue Lamp! So it'll be a busy weekend for us, and hopefully for you as well. Coming up shortly, we will be returning to San Francisco's Café Du Nord for our first show in the city this year! You may recall that we sold out this great SF venue when we played there last summer, so you may want to look into getting your tickets ahead of time so as not to miss it! Tickets for that night are already starting to go! We'll have some new songs and some old favorites for what promises to be an exciting night, with support from the amazing Joy Division tribute "The Ghost Of Curtis." We're looking forward to it!
March 23rd, 2008
Three new shows listed for May!
Thank you to all of the fans that came out to join us at Anaheim's Juke Joint, The House Of Blues on Sunset, and just last night at The Blank Club! We had a great time playing those SoCal venues for the first time and meeting some new people! And last night, it was great to see some old faces and new ones at one of our favorite places to play -- The Blank! We've just listed three new shows in northern and central California, so check out the calendar to see where we'll be playing in May! We're looking forward to it! Also, be sure to check out some new footage of "How Soon Is Now?" from our recent show at The House Of Blues. And while you're at it, why not check out this YouTube search which will show you all the latest TCB videos out there (and there are many)!

Two SoCal shows this weekend... with a special guest!
Well friends, it's been exactly two years since we first played Southern California. This upcoming weekend, we'll be playing both Friday and Saturday nights down in SoCal to celebrate! On Friday (3/7), we'll be making our first appearance at Anaheim's rockabilly institution The Juke Joint, supported by L.A.'s Clash tribute, "The Clash City Rockers." Then on Saturday (3/8), we'll be at one of Hollywood's premier venues: The House Of Blues on Sunset Strip! There, we'll be supporting Super Diamond, possibly the nation's biggest tribute act (a tribute to Neil Diamond of course!), that regularly sells out venues across the country. In fact, we've been advised that pre-sale tickets are going fast for this show, so a sell out is likely. Don't miss out -- buy your tickets for this one ahead of time! And for our special guest, we'll have Super Diamond's own Matt Diamond on bass both nights this weekend! We may even have another guest who's in the works now... We're looking forward to seeing you all this weekend!
January 22nd, 2008
That's How People Show Up... in Morrissey's videos!
Thank you to Spellbound and the great crowd at the Red Devil Lounge as we wrapped up 2007! It was an exciting night and an energized crowd that included many local faces as well as several Moz Krew, Choir Boys, and folks from all over the Bay Area. This Saturday, we'll be returning to the Blue Lamp in Sacramental for the third time. We're looking forward to seeing all of you out there... and we've got plenty of new songs in the works! Now, you may have heard that Morrissey has a new single coming out soon called "That's How People Grow Up." But have you seen the new song's video? Because if you had, you couldn't have missed our own Benjamin and Nick who appear all over the place in it as they were in the front row for that Hollywood Bowl show last year. Check it out here.
December 26th, 2007
All you need is us...
Now that the U.S. dates of Morrissey's two-year(!) tour are at their end, you have but one place to turn. After a great visit to Arizona and a pair of amazing shows around Thanksgiving (the giant Crash Mansion in L.A. and San Francisco's own Popscene), we are preparing to end the year with a final 2007 show this Saturday (12/29) at the Red Devil Lounge. As threatened, we'll be joined by Spellbound, a new tribute to Siouxsie and the Banshees! This is our last scheduled Bay Area show for the time being, and we hope to see some of our old friends as well as some new ones... and rumor has it the Moz Krew may even be travelling North for the winter to join us for this one! Should be a huge show, friends... don't miss out!
November 4th, 2007
Finishing 2007 in Arizona, Los Angeles, and San Francisco!
This upcoming weekend we'll be in Scottsdale, Arizona for the first time ever! Friday night we'll be doing a short acoustic set and maybe some guest DJing. Saturday night we'll be playing Chasers, and with all the AZ folks we've heard from, this should be a big show! Later in November, we have two Thanksgiving events planned -- a huge L.A. show at Crash Mansion and then the next day back in San Francisco for Popscene's traditional "anti-Thanksgiving" Smiths night. Finally, on the calendar for the end of December is the Red Devil Lounge where we'll be supported by Orlandissey's other project: Spellbound, a tribute to Siouxsie and the Banshees! Check out the details for all of these upcoming shows on our calendar!

We hope you all had as much fun as we did last weekend -- when we played to our biggest crowd to date (900+) at the House of Blues in Anaheim! Thank you Super Diamond for having us along. Then the very next night, we rushed back from the final Moz Palladium show to play a sold out show of our own at Vertigo's in downtown L.A.! Thank you SoCal for your continued and amazing support! But we won't be neglecting our home town, because tomorrow night is our big "Strangeways, Here We Come" 20th anniversary show here in San Francisco! Don't miss this chance to see the entire Strangeways album performed live, as the Smiths themselves never did. We'll follow that up with some more Smiths and Morrissey classics... sure to be a great show!

Strangeways: 20 Years On
Thanks again to Tainted Love for letting us be a part of the sold out show at Bimbo's last Saturday night! We had a great time, and Bimbo's lived up to its reputation as one of San Francisco's finest venues. In a few weeks (October 12th, specifically), we'll be joining Super Diamond at another amazing venue: The House Of Blues! Then after our trip down south, we'll be back in San Francisco for another very special show. Remember way back in May (see May 10th news below) when we mentioned doing a "Strangeways, Here We Come" album anniversary show? Well that show will be here in San Francisco on October 20th, and as we promised, we'll be playing the Strangeways album in its entirety. Come out and see the Smiths' 10 final works performed live (as they sadly never had a chance to), along with many other classics and favorites, all happening on October 20th! And finally... are those of you in the Bay Area enjoying Mozzer's Fillmore shows this week as much as we are?
September 16th, 2007
We want to say thank you to the hundreds that helped us sell out Club Fred last night! For the second time in a row, Fresno did not disappoint with a great crowd of serious Smiths fans. We're looking forward to playing there again! Our next two shows are big ones: this Saturday (9/22) at Bimbo's 365 in San Francisco with Tainted Love, and then October 12th at the House Of Blues in Anaheim with Super Diamond. Come celebrate with us at these big venues with these big cover acts! And finally, we're not ones to start rumors, but it seems there's one floating around that TCB will also be playing an after-party gig following the final Morrissey show at the Palladium. So if you're going to that Moz show (and who isn't?)... well, more details to come.

And when I fell on the floor, I drank more.
Well friends, Sacramental lived up to its name when we were joined last weekend by the wild crowd at Blue Lamp -- many of whom were happy in the haze of a few drunken hours. But it was a great time as always, and we look forward to coming back to Sacramento soon! Coming up next weekend, we'll be returning to Fresno's Club Fred. So for you Smiths/Moz fanatics out in that area, don't miss it! Our last show here was one of our favorites ever! And then the very next weekend (9/22), we'll be joining Tainted Love for a HUGE show at Bimbo's in San Francisco! You'll be hearing more about that one as we get closer. Finally, we've just posted some new pictures covering the early summer and Las Vegas. There are also some great new bootleg videos (out on YouTube) and a few new live mp3s, the links to all of which are on our Media page. See you all very soon!

Some venues are bigger than others...
Thank you to the nearly 400 people who joined us in Pasadena for the first night of the Moz Krew's Club Rank benefit! Thank you also to the great crowd at the Blank Club who helped make that a wild night. Over the next few weeks, we'll be heading out to a couple of great places we first visited earlier this year: Sacramento and Fresno. Then after that, we're shifting gears to support a couple of great acts at a couple of huge venues. First, we'll be joining one of the most popular 80's bands in the West (Tainted Love) at Bimbo's 365 in San Francisco. Then just a few weeks later, we'll be supporting what may actually be the biggest tribute band in country - Super Diamond - at The House Of Blues in Anaheim! You don't want to miss the music of the Smiths played live at a couple of the biggest and baddest venues on the West Coast. Mark your calendars!

On to Pasadena for a Moz Krew benefit!
First off, thank you to everyone who helped us sell out Café Du Nord on Friday. That swanky club was packed wall-to-wall with Smiths fans! Special thanks also to DJ Helena (of Louder Than Bombs), cellist/pianist Unwoman, who joined us for a few songs, and to the raucous Sik Luv, who opened the night up with their own dysfunctional brand of rockabilly. Next Friday (August 3rd), we've been asked to play the inaugural event of SoCal's new monthly Smiths/Morrissey club night: Club Rank! This event is put on by the infamous Moz Krew, and all proceeds are going to charity. We hear Richard Blade will be on hand to MC as well! So if you're within any reasonable distance of Pasadena, come see TCB, the Moz Krew, and the rest of the festivities... and all for a good cause!
July 3rd, 2007
I would go out tonight...
If you're looking for a stitch to wear, you might consider the new TCB shirts we'll have with us when we play The Casbah in San Diego this Friday! You all know how much we love to visit SoCal and the huge base of Smiths/Moz fanatics there. This is the only SoCal show we have officially scheduled for the summer at the moment, so don't miss it! We'll be playing a big set of Smiths classics and Morrissey favorites for this, our first San Diego show. It seems we're inching our way towards Mexico... in time, boys. In time. Also, thank you to everyone who came from near and far to see us in Las Vegas last month. We hope you had as good a time as we did! And finally, check out our mention on Morrissey-Solo.

Viva Moz Vegas
Thank you to everyone who joined us last night at the 12 Galaxies for our acoustic experiment. The Smiths "unplugged" and rearranged: it seemed to go over well! Maybe we'll look at doing a few more of those in the future. But we're amped to get back to our fully-electric selves, and it just so happens that we're now coming up on our big Las Vegas weekend at the Beauty Bar! Nick and Benjamin were out in Vegas just last weekend to see Morrissey at the Palms, and while we were there, we got to check out the Beauty Bar... a hip place right on Fremont Street in old Vegas. You couldn't ask for a better location... tons to do all around, 24 hours a day. We've gotten word that friends from Northern and Southern California will be making the trip out to the show, and hopefully we'll see some of the Nevada locals that have missed us in the past? We can't wait to meet you little charmers! Check out our mention on Morrissey-Solo.
May 10th, 2007
... in far off places.
Well friends, we're coming up on our first out-of-state trip when we play Las Vegas in June! We'll be at the Beauty Bar, so if you're in that area, or if you needed an excuse for a weekend getaway to Vegas... be there June 16th! For those of you here in the Bay Area with us, our next San Francisco show will be at swanky Cafe Du Nord, and we'll be joined that night by our friends Sik Luv. It should be a very interesting show. More details to come. As mentioned before, there are even more summer shows in the works, so check back for updates. Surely we'll be in SoCal at least once over the summer. And maybe some places even further off than Nevada? If all that wasn't enough, we're planning a "Strangeways, Here We Come" 20th anniversary show near the end of the summer, where we will of course be playing The Smiths' final album in its entirety. It should be a great summer for us... so K.I.T.
April 17th, 2007
I know you...
Special thanks to TCB alumni Wally Cook and Peter Weldon for joining us for a few songs at a stellar night at Rickshaw Stop! It was good to have you back, gentlemen. You're always welcome! In addition to having our old friends revive some neglected songs like "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore" and "Jack The Ripper," we were fortunate enough to be joined by Aaron Axelsen who spun top-shelf music from start to finish! Among the hundreds of attendees were several Choir Boys (and girls) who were kind enough to provide us with honorary Choir shirts. Check out the Gallery for a bunch of new pictures from the past couple months of shows including some new Troubadour pics from Chris Boyd (and also note the new "archive" link at the bottom -- we've started splitting the pictures up across multiple pages so you don't drown in thumbnails!). This was our last official show scheduled, but many summer shows are now in the works. Check back often for updates as to where we'll be in NorCal, SoCal, and possibly even out of state...
April 6th, 2007
Let me see all my old friends!
Let me put my arms around them! Remember how we said we might see Wally again before too long? Well that wasn't entirely true. It's actually both Wally and Peter we'll be seeing, and it will all be at Rickshaw Stop's "Tribute To Manchester" night in San Francisco on Saturday, April 14th! In addition to songs with the current TCB lineup, there will also be a few songs featuring guest appearances by TCB alumni Wally Cook and Peter Weldon. Don't miss this ultra-rare opportunity to see some of the original gang together again to perform some songs you haven't heard from us in a long time. And to top it all off, our friend Aaron Axelsen will be spinning Manchester and Britpop tunes before and after we play... in case you needed yet another reason to dance. Special thanks to Shelley Suicide and our own Nick Laquintano for providing the "guest artwork" for this event's special flyer. April 14th, charmers... something old and something new.
March 29th, 2007
But we cannot cling...
I guess we've just been clumsily waiting for the right time to announce it, but as many of you now know, our beloved bassist Wally Cook has decided to resign with the recent Troubadour show being his final gig as a full-time member (and what a show to go out on!). He'll be spending more time with his family and pursuing other less time-consuming musical endeavors. How do you say goodbye to a guy who was there when it was just three of us practicing quietly in an apartment and only imaging what might come of this as-yet unnamed Smiths project? The guy whose friendship and level-head kept the other extreme personalities in TCB in relative check? How do you say goodbye to a talent like his? Well the answer is: you don't. We're all still terribly close with Wally, and we've all left the door open for him to come play the occasional show with us as the need arises. And who knows? This may happen sooner than you think. In the same breath, we of course need to mention the man who'll be filling Wally's considerable shoes. If you've seen any of our shows in the last two months, then you've undoubtedly seen our new bassist (and incidentally, friend of Wally), the very talented William Jasper! He's come up to speed almost immediately, and we've already been able to play 20-song nights with him tending the basement. We're looking forward to great things! Make sure to give William a warm welcome when next you see us... And finally, thank you to the great crowds that joined us and danced their legs down to the knees in Sacramento and Fresno this last weekend, and especially the Choir Boys who had representatives at both shows! We hope to make it back out that way again soon!
March 19th, 2007
Panic on the streets of Fresno?
Once again, we'd like to thank all of you that joined us for a wild show at the Blank Club this last weekend for St. (Steven) Patrick's Day! It was made even better by the attendance and support of the Moz Krew (all the way from SoCal), our San Jose friends (the Coven, the Heathers, the Choir Boys, etc.), and of course the rest of the Bay Area. Special thanks to DJ Jeff Shelton, who was spinning before and between our sets. But it doesn't stop there, friends. This upcoming weekend, we'll be on our way to Sacramento on Friday night (3/23) and Fresno on Saturday night (3/24), so if you're going to be anywhere near there and you've been looking for an excuse to dance your legs down to the knees... well here it is.

CDs and t-shirts, promos, God knows...
It looks like the Smiths compilation that we're featured on ("Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before") is now on Amazon! Go check it out for sound clips, and of course, to buy your copy! Also, some new TCB t-shirts are in the works... more news on that as it happens. And finally, we wanted to mention that we sent our man Nick down to SoCal for two of the three Morrissey shows in Pasadena, and he's advised us that Moz was in fine form. Nick even met and chatted briefly with 60's superstar Donovan, saw Fred Savage at the Pink Dot, etc. He also ran into our good friends the Moz Krew, as well as several other fans from NorCal and SoCal. We're looking forward to seeing Morrissey up North here... which we know is gonna happen... someday...
February 5th, 2007
At the record company meeting...
Thank you to those of you who came out to our special Britpop show, helping our friends Aaron and Omar celebrate Leisure's two year anniversary. Three of us (along with the three guest musicians) played to the biggest club crowd in the venue's history. In addition to "Bigmouth Strikes Again," we played some of what were voted the top Britpop songs of all time including "Common People" and "Wonderwall." Basically a bunch of songs you will likely never hear us play again. But we had a great time, and we hope you did too. Coming up this month, we have a couple of shows planned at new venues for us in Redwood City and in Davis. Check out the Shows page for details. Oh, and the Cleopatra Records Smiths compilation that we're being featured on ("Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before") is due out February 20th. Be sure to check it out!
January 18th, 2007
And since we're Northern, that makes it even worse!
We had an amazing time at the Troubadour on Friday night! A solid show at a great venue and most importantly: a great crowd of hundreds of Smiths fans! SoCal has been kind enough to embrace us once again, and we are terribly thankful. Check out the new pictures and videos/mp3s from the Troubadour (and recent shows at Slim's and Popscene). We'll see you in a month, friends!

Driving Your Girlfriend Home
Thank you to the 450+ of you who came out to Slim's last night for a great show with our friends Zoo Station and our new friends, the very talented Little Bitches! We look forward to sharing a stage with you all again soon! Coming up this Friday, we'll be playing West Hollywood's historic Troubadour, supported by local rockabilly outfit The Border Hoppin' Boys. We always have such a great time playing in SoCal, and with just this one show booked for our trip, we're hoping for a big turn out. This will also be a bitter-sweet celebration of Wally's last show with us as a full-timer! So come out and help us celebrate the Smiths and Wally with a long night of music, drinking, and dancing. See our mention on Morrissey-Solo. Good times await you, friends... just ask the Moz Krew.
December 17th, 2006
Hang The DJs!
Well last night surpassed even our own high expectations. We had nearly 500 people show up from the Bay Area (including The Choir Boys!) and as far away as Los Angeles (thanks Moz Krew!) to help us celebrate the Smiths' final concert! The energy in that room was unprecedented, and by the end of the set, we had a dozen people on stage with us singing, dancing, and crowd surfing! (You can see it here!) Orlandissey brandished a noose during "Panic," and the crowd whipped flowers about to match. I'm sure we'll have some pictures up soon, but if you missed it, you missed what may well have been our best show yet! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this amazing night so unforgettable. Happy New Year all! We'll be back in 2007 at Slim's on January 5th and then The Troubadour in Hollywood on January 12th...

20 Years Ago Today
20 years ago today, the Smiths played what would be their last ever live concert. It was of course at London's Brixton Academy. (The legend of this historic show can be found here.) This is both a sad and happy occasion for many of us, remembering the wonderful music of the Smiths but also that they had to end. Come join us as we observe and celebrate this bitter-sweet anniversary Saturday night by recreating the Smiths' final concert at San Francisco's most respected new wave dance party: New Wave City! Don't miss it! Also, see our mention on Morrissey-Solo.

New Pictures, New Songs, and New... News
We've just posted a ton of new pictures covering the rest of our summer of shows, including Southern California. There's also some bootleg audio from our recent Santa Rosa show and bootleg video from Club London back in August, all posted on the Media page. Oh, and one last bit of news: we're not going to have the mini acoustic set that we'd hinted at last week after all. But rest assured that acoustic gigs like this are coming soon.
November 29th, 2006
I thought that if you had an acoustic guitar...
Thank you to the 350+ that came out to help celebrate Popscene's annual Thanksgiving "Meat Is Murder" Smiths tribute night (you may recall that our second ever show was at last year's Popscene Thanksgiving)! A special thanks go out to all of the fans that jumped on stage and sang and danced with us! We look forward to doing it all again next year. Coming up, we have our New Wave City show where we will be commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Smiths' final live performance at London's Brixton Academy on 12/12/86. So on Saturday, December 16th, 2006, we'll be recreating their historic last concert, song for song. Don't miss it! Also, there are talks of a short (and first ever) all-acoustic set at a local record store on that Saturday afternoon to help promote that night's NWC gig. Smiths unplugged? Details to follow...

But you're remarkably dressed
Well, if you consider a codpiece on the outside of your clothes at all remarkable, that is. Yes, we had a successful Halloween show at the Rockit Room last night along with Stung, For The Masses, and Japanese Baby. And we did it dressed as Alex and his Droogs (pictures will surely be floating around on MySpace eventually). Thank you to everyone who came out, especially those in costume! Our next show (11/17) will take us on a rare trip up to The Last Day Saloon in Santa Rosa, supported by For The Masses and Japanese Baby. So Smiths fans of the North Bay, unite and take over!
October 8th, 2006
Hold On To Your Friends
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our sad farewell to guitarist Peter Weldon last night at Ireland's 32. Friends and family were all on hand to join in the celebration that culminated in an unplanned, never-before-attempted, and ad-libbed version of "Barbarism Begins At Home!" Despite the somber occasion, everyone had a great time and hopefully it was a night we'll all remember! Thank you again, Peter... you will be missed!
September 23rd, 2006
Don't forget the songs that made you smile...
As some of you may now know, one of our two guitarists (the very talented Peter Weldon) will be ending his tenure with This Charming Band after our upcoming show at Ireland's 32. Peter will be pursuing some projects of his own, but you may see him in the crowd from time to time, and who knows what else the future holds? Thank you for all the hard work and great music, Peter! You've helped us do justice to the Smiths' catalogue, and your dedication will be sorely missed. Please join us at Ireland's 32 on October 7th for Peter's final show as a full-time member of This Charming Band. This farewell-to-Peter night will include just about every tune we know to date, including several of his favorites!
September 15th, 2006
Last-Minute Slim's Show!
We've had a last-minute addition to our schedule: we'll be supporting Stung (a tribute to the Police) and For The Masses (a tribute to Depeche Mode) at Slim's on Friday, September 22nd! As you know, this is a great venue, and these are two of the best tribute bands we've ever heard. You won't believe your ears! Come and join us next Friday! Details are on the Shows page.
September 12th, 2006
Back To The Old House
We're excited to be returning to one of our favorite venues, San Jose's Blank Club! Our friend DJ Kenny will be spinning once again, and you will not be disappointed! Also, note that we've now got a special Halloween show booked at the Rockit Room with Stung, For The Masses, and Japanese Baby on October 28th. That's the Smiths, The Police, Depeche Mode, and The Cure all in one night -- something for everyone! And in other news, see our own Orlandissey mentioned in this recent East Bay Express article.
August 14th, 2006
And you think they're sad because you're leaving
We were sorry to go, but we've just returned home from our second SoCal mini-tour, where we had a wonderful time playing Club Addiction, the historic Derby, and Club London. Just as we'd hoped, we were again warmly received by the legendary Smiths fans of SoCal. Thank you to everyone who came out to listen, and a special thanks to those of you who found the courage to join us on stage and dance and sing along. We even had reports of a few people who were made into Smiths fans after hearing us play this weekend! If we helped at all, we're honored and humbled. Helping to get more people exposed to and excited about the Smiths... well, that's exactly why we do it. Oh Hollywood, nothing to answer for. We love you all. We can't wait to return again...
August 6th, 2006
We left the North again, we travelled south again
First off, a big thank you to Zoo Station for letting us be a part of a tremendous show at Slim's last night. And thank you to all of our friends and fans that came out to share the event with us. It's an amazing venue, and we had an amazing crowd. A night to remember! And now to the business at hand: this upcoming weekend we are returning once again to Southern California for three shows (8/11 - 8/13). When we were down there in the Spring, we had a wonderful time and a great reception from the most fanatical Smiths the U.S. has to offer. We're hoping to recreate some of that once again... check the Shows page for details and our mention on Morrissey-Solo. And if you're interested, we'll even have some shirts to sell this time around. Come out and find the one that you love and who loves you.
August 1st, 2006
And if they won't come see us now...
This upcoming Saturday (August 5th), we'll be playing our biggest San Francisco show ever: Slim's! We'll be supporting Zoo Station (The Complete U2 Experience). It should be a blast, and we don't think we have to tell you how excited we are to be playing there and with them. This is our last San Francisco show for a while, so help us finish off our busy summer with a bang! And while you're here, have a look at our new pictures in the Gallery and the new bootleg video submission from Leisure on the Media page.
July 16th, 2006
Not once... twice!
Thank you to all of you little charmers that came out to help us celebrate the Smiths and Morrissey at the Red Devil Lounge and Ireland's 32 this weekend. On Friday, we opened up for 80's cover super group "Notorious," who kept the crowd dancing all night to everything from Off The Wall era Michael Jackson to The Cure to Run DMC. There may have even been a Smiths lyric snuck in here and there. Then we saw some new faces at our second Ireland's 32 show, which proved to be another raucous, every-song-we-know, drinking and dancing, request-calling night among a crowd of serious Smiths fans. We're looking forward to returning to both of these venues in the near future! Now, are you ready for what will be the first time Leisure has ever hosted a live band?
June 21st, 2006
And It Never Really Began...
We're very sorry to announce that due to circumstances beyond our control, we've had to cancel our Unhappy Birthday show at Bottom Of The Hill on June 27th. We apologize for sharing this information just a week before the show -- this all came up very suddenly. Don't fret though, as both The New Centuries and Johnstown are still playing that night, and the new headliner will be The Family Arsenal (our drummer Nick's other band)!
May 14th, 2006
We've been Stung!
Thanks again to Stung for having us on their bill at the RockIt Room. And thank you to all who were able to make it out or were there with us in spirit! Of course we knew we'd get a first-rate show from what is surely the best Police tribute out there, but we were also blown away by For The Masses, the Depeche Mode tribute. The singer nails Dave Gahan's voice and stage antics, and the keyboardist has those songs down note for note (including "Precious!"). An amazing night all around... we're looking forward to playing with you gentlemen again!
May 7th, 2006
TCB On Fire!
We'll have our busy clippers ready as we spend the summer playing all over the Bay Area as well as another mini-tour in SoCal. Check out our Shows page, and check back often. You'll note nine shows booked for the next three months, and we're not done yet. Even more are in the works! Well, we're just so busy. Busy busy.
May 1st, 2006
Well, There Must Be
We are sad to report that Isaac Ho, our keyboard player, has decided to focus on other projects. We will all miss his tremendous talent on the keys and his camaraderie on the road. You're a great friend, Isaac. So long, and best of luck in the future! Given its lyrics and today's news, does anyone else find it ironic that "Asleep" has always been Isaac's most shining moment with us? For the time being, This Charming Band will continue as a five piece, getting back to the guitar-centric tradition of early Smiths!
April 14th, 2006
The More You Ignore Us...
Well, 500 of you couldn't ignore us at Popscene last night as we played a set of almost entirely Morrissey's solo work in honor of his new release! By now, we're sure you've gotten your hands on a copy of what many are saying is Mozzer's best effort since "Vauxhall & I." Starting off the night with "You Have Killed Me," we played our hearts out on classics like "Everyday Is Like Sunday" and "The More You Ignore Me (The Closer I Get)" as well as some of the unexpecteds like "Jack The Ripper" and "I Have Forgiven Jesus." Throw in a few of the Smiths' best works and you have a recipe for a hell of a night! Thank you to all who were able to make it out to our homecoming gig at Popscene, where it all started. We can't wait to see you next time! Stay handsome...
April 3rd, 2006
Los Angeles, We Have Killed You
We've just returned from our three-show Southern California debut, and we believe it was quite a success! We all had a blast playing our hearts out and meeting a ton of great people. Our first night (Friday) was rough, but Saturday and Sunday were some of our best yet! Thank you to all of the wonderful SoCal Smiths fans who came out to have a listen. We hope you had as much fun as we did! Thank you to all of our friends (some all the way from the Bay Area!) who were able to support us. And a very special thank you to Alain Whyte himself, who gave us all a night to remember by graciously agreeing to join us on stage at the Cat Club to play "Suedehead" with us despite the night's tumultuous start. We're humbled and hope to catch you again soon, Alain! Until next time, Los Angeles...
March 27th, 2006
SoCal, Here We Come...
We're getting ready to embark on our "mini-tour" of Southern California with a weekend full of shows in Hollywood, West Hollywood, and Downey. Now, we all know that there are a ton of fellow Smiths/Morrissey fans down there, so we expect to see each and every one of you at at least one show. And if you're planning on trying to make more than one, don't think you'll be subjected to the same old setlist again. Each night, we'll be planning something a little different... By the way, did you happen to see our mention on www.Morrissey-Solo.com?

ThisCharmingBand.net is live!
Welcome to our new website! While the site is still a work in progress, we're glad to finally have our own official portal to the public. So please come on in, check out our upcoming shows, drop us an email or photo, or write a scathing review about us in the forum.
